In compliance with Article 286 of the Act Respecting the Distribution of Financial Products and Services, the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages is subject to the Act Respecting the Access to Documents Held by Public Bodies and on the Protection of Personal Information.
This law establishes the following principles, among others:
- all people who make a request have the right to access the documents held by the ChAD;
- a natural person has the right to confidentiality of the personal information that concerns him/her;
- only the person concerned has the right to access the personal information held by the ChAD;
- only the person concerned has the right to rectify the information concerning him/herself.

To make a request
All requests to access information and the protection of personal information must be written and sent to the person responsible for the file.

The examination of an access request requires the analysis of each of the documents requested, given the provisions of the Law and the jurisprudence developed by the Commission of access to information. The person responsible for enforcing the Law must respond to an access request within the 20 days following its receipt. Any refusal must contain reasoning. According to the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information, the Chambre de l’assurance de dommages is required to post its classification plan on its website.
